Kiyah is 1/2 Scottish. I am from Scotland. Hubby is American. I talk to her about what life was like in Scotland when I was a child fairly often. It's crazy but I think I lived in the dark ages. Our home was heated by the fireplace in the family room downstairs. We used coal. We walked everywhere, no car. We picked potatoes in the summer for pocket money. My Granny knitted us blankets, sweaters and socks. There was no internet or iPods. Only the financially well-off had a tv. She is astounded life was so different. I sound like an old lady but it was better before cell phones and Facebook. It was better when we had to head outside to get un-bored.

We go to the Scottish Festival every year and last year we bought this sword. Today we decided to use it in some of today's photographs.
