I love the Great Salt Lake! I grew up on the beaches in Scotland and the water is just something that I'm drawn to.

Yes, the Great Salt Lake can be buggy during the warmer parts of the year. If that bothers you, go during the spring and fall, or winter. Right now it's glorious!

Warning: There are some really nice patches of sand, but watch out for the sand that you sink into. There is water under the sand and it can be too soft in places. So bring old shoes along and put them on before you head to the beach. You'll want to put your better shoes back on before you get in your car. And if you go there in the early spring or late fall, bring jackets. It's colder there than even a mile away:)

Oh, and bring your camera, and a micro lens. There are so many fascinating things to see and make photos of.
