Apple Portrait - Getting ReadyI was shopping at Whole Foods just before Christmas. I was looking for a gluten free pie. They had a lot at Thanksgiving but had only one choice at Christmas, cherry pie. I was going to grab it till I saw the strawberry cheesecake. I grabbed that instead. It was one tiny little thing, but rich and heavenly! As I was walking past the produce section on the way to checkout, I spotted some of the reddest, shiniest apples I'd ever seen! As soon as I saw them I knew I had to either draw them, paint them, or eat them. Probably two of the three. I bought them and brought them home v e r y carefully! No bruises for these babies! Once home, I got a white sheet, pushed the blankets off my bed, put the white sheet on the bed, carefully put the red apples on the white sheet, and spent an hour moving the apples around, and moving the sheet around making new folds. After about 50 photographs I called it done and went to the computer to see what I had. It took a while to narrow down the one I liked the best. But here it is.
I thought I'd throw it in a frame to get an idea of what it might look like when it's done. I was thinking after I'd taken the photographs that an old wicker or wooden bowl may have looked nice peeking out from under the sheet in the lower middle. I've gone as far in the past as to put the project on hold and made the second-thought changes, only to decide I liked my first version. So for now I'll go along with what I've got. If I find a bowl that I like while out at the store one day I'll use it in another setting. Now to paint it! Thanks for stopping by! Karen (Mori)
