My Teen Playing Keyboard -Painting
True story. My 18 year old son, Keaton, has been playing the keyboard for over 2 years and I haven't heard him play even once! He puts on the headphones, which mute the keyboard, and plays. I have asked him repeatedly to let me listen but I've been shot down every time. I've even gone as far as bribing him with money, and still got a no. Don't ask me to explain this odd behavior because I have no answer, other than kids are a mystery. He also plays the violin and I get to hear that every day. I love listening to him! As far as I know there is no way to completely mute an acoustic instrument so probably that's why. Lucky me! This painting idea of Keaton started when I was stopped in my tracks, with an armful of clean laundry to fold, when I noticed the light coming through the window and how it was shining on him. The kids are used to me staring at them and saying, Don't move, when I notice something I love! I said just that to Keaton, dumped the laundry on the nearest counter, and ran to get my camera. One thing I love about painting is the ability to manipulate the images more. You can paint absolutely anything and everything. Keaton hangs out in the basement, just like in That 70's Show, same decor as well, so the background was a large metal shelving unit full of sheets, blankets, and sleeping bags. If I were going to leave this image as a photograph it would have looked a bit horrific. It's a painting though, so I changed the background. I also removed the wires from the headphones because I found them distracting -there are wireless headphones, right-? Either way, they're gone and I like it better this way. I love the color of his shirt so I didn't have to have him change. That's always nice, less fuss. This is a hand-painted digital painting, the same as a digital photograph, so a print needs to be made. My favorite size is 20" X 24" and I have a few of them already. I'm going to need more walls. Now to get a photograph of him playing the violin so I can paint that too:) Thanks for stopping by! Digitally hand-painted, one brush stroke at a time.
